Divi Brand Swap user guide
Scan your site, pick a new brand, preview the swap and undo it in one click.
What support covers. SU support helps with problems in SU plugins only. For Divi itself (the theme, the builder, Divi updates) or for design help, please contact Elegant Themes support.
What it does and who it's for
Divi Brand Swap changes your Divi site's colors, fonts, logo, site icon and (optionally) business name across the whole site in one go. It scans your current brand, lets you preview every change and leave out anything you want to keep, saves a full backup first, and undoes everything with one click. Changes go through Divi's own settings, so pages stay editable in the Divi Builder.
It's for business owners updating their look, agencies and freelancers delivering rebrands, and designers reusing a design for a new client.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.2 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer
- The Divi theme or the Divi Builder, Divi 4 or Divi 5, active
- An administrator account
- Optional: Divi Bot Bridge (included) if you want your Grok Bot to suggest a new brand
Install the plugin
- Download the plugin zip from your account at suweb.ai > My account > Downloads. Keep it zipped.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New and click Upload Plugin at the top.
- Click Choose File, pick the zip, then click Install Now.
- Already have an older version installed? WordPress shows a comparison. Click Replace current with uploaded.
- Click Activate Plugin. A SUWEB menu appears in the left sidebar (all SU Web plugins share it).
Add your license key
A license gives you updates and support. The plugin keeps working with or without one.
- Find your key in your order email or at suweb.ai > My account > My licenses.
- In WordPress, go to SUWEB > My licenses.
- Under Add a license key, paste your key and click Activate. One key fills in for every installed SU Web plugin it covers.
- You'll see License activated. Each plugin row shows its version, a status pill, and your key masked (only the last four characters show).
- Moving the plugin to a different site? Click Deactivate on this site first so the site seat is freed up.
Getting updates
- Updates arrive the normal WordPress way: Dashboard > Updates (and the Plugins page) when a new version is ready.
- Want to check right now? Click Check for updates on SUWEB > My licenses. It rechecks your license and looks for new versions straight away.
- Optional: Auto-install critical updates installs a release automatically only when suweb.ai marks it as an urgent security or breakage fix. Other updates still wait for you.
Status messages you may see
- No license. Add a key below to get updates. No key entered yet.
- This license is no longer active. Everything keeps working as before; updates and support are paused. Renew at suweb.ai.
- Update available, renew to download. A new version exists; renew to get it.
- Activation failed. Check the key for typos and that you have a free site seat, then try again.
Privacy
Licensing only sends your license key, your site's address and the plugin version to suweb.ai. Nothing else, and none of your content.
Step 1: Scan your current brand
- Go to SUWEB > Brand Swap.
- Under Your current brand, click Scan my site. You'll see the colors, fonts and logos you use now ("Here is your current brand."). You can scan again any time; nothing changes until you apply a swap.
Step 2: Pick your new brand
Under Pick your new brand, choose new colors, a heading font, a body font, a logo and a site icon. Anything you leave blank stays as it is.
- Changing your business name too? Tick it and fill in Current name (prefilled from your site title) and New name. Brand Swap finds the whole name and keeps the same capitalization. Links and email addresses stay untouched unless you turn on Also update the name in links and email addresses.
- Let Grok Bot choose for me: if Divi Bot Bridge is active, ask your Grok Bot to "pick a new brand in Brand Swap". Its suggestions appear here for you to review.
- Use a square image for the site icon; a wide one may get cropped.
Step 3: Preview
Click Preview the changes. You'll see "Here is everything we would change." Each change is listed old to new. Check Skip on any row you want to leave alone.
Step 4: Swap
Click Swap my brand. A full backup is saved first, then your new brand is applied. Click View my site to see the result.
Undo a swap
- Under Past swaps, find the swap and click Undo this swap.
- You'll see "Everything from that swap is back the way it was."
- If you edited something after the swap, it's left alone and listed ("A few things were edited after the swap, so we left them alone."). Click Restore anyway if you want the old value back regardless.
Uninstall option
If you delete Brand Swap, also erase its saved backups is off by default, so your backups stay after the plugin is deleted. Your pages are never deleted.
Hosting firewall (WAF) and security plugins
You run swaps from the Brand Swap screen inside WordPress, which uses WordPress's own admin connection. Let Grok Bot choose for me sends your Grok Bot's suggestions to your site through WordPress's standard web address for apps (the REST API, under /wp-json/), via Divi Bot Bridge. Some hosts' firewalls block those requests even though they're properly logged in.
Signs of a block: an action spins and then fails, or you (or your Grok Bot) see a plain page saying 403 or Forbidden Access instead of a normal WordPress message. This page comes from your host's firewall, not from the plugin.
Step 1: Add a firewall exception for /wp-json/. In your hosting control panel, open the firewall / WAF settings (or ask your host's support) and add an exception for the path /wp-json/. Just the path is enough; you don't need the full web address. This is the fix that worked on suweb.ai itself. It doesn't open your site up: every request still has to log in properly.
Step 2 (alternative): an IP allow rule. If your host can't do path exceptions, ask them to allow the IP address the requests come from. Note that some IP addresses change over time, so the path exception is the better long-term fix.
Step 3: Delete requests. Some hosts block "delete" type requests altogether. Brand Swap's own screens don't rely on delete requests. When your Grok Bot works on your site through Divi Bot Bridge, it can send deletes as a normal request marked ?_method=DELETE, which gets past this kind of block; the Bridge training file already tells it to. You don't need to change any settings.
Step 4: Check your security plugins. Security plugins can block the same requests. For example, in CleanTalk look at the anti-crawler, anti-flood and firewall options: leave them off, or add your own site / the request to their allowlist. Do the same check in any other firewall or security plugin you use.
Step 5: Retest.
- On the Brand Swap screen, click Scan my site and make sure the results appear.
- If you use Grok Bot suggestions, ask your Grok Bot to "pick a new brand in Brand Swap", then reload the Brand Swap page and check the suggestions appear.
- If either still fails, recheck Steps 1 to 4.
If it still fails, clear any site or host cache, wait a few minutes for firewall changes to take effect, and try again. Still stuck? Contact suweb.ai/support and tell us what you saw and when. See also suweb.ai/docs/hosting-and-firewall.
Troubleshooting
- "Brand Swap needs the Divi theme or Divi Builder to be active.": activate Divi.
- "Scan your site first, so we know what to change.": click Scan my site before picking.
- "Divi changed since this preview. Please scan again.": something changed after your preview; scan and preview again.
- "Your last swap didn't finish. Undo it or finish it?": choose Undo or Continue.
- "Nothing is selected to change.": you skipped every row; untick some Skip boxes.
- "Please choose a real color, like #112233." / "That heading font name does not look right.": correct the value and preview again.
- "Use a business name with at least two letters…": this protects against changing the wrong words.
- "Divi Bot Bridge isn't active yet.": Brand Swap still works on its own; activate Bridge only if you want Grok Bot suggestions.
